As the announcement of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the state government will soon build 15,000 shelters under “Shelter Security Mission” for Economical Weaker Section (EWS) in Bhubaneswar. The announcement was made on Wednesday at State Secretariat. Patanik asked the state development authorities to complete the construction of housing units in the city by 2015-end.
CM told the reporters in the end of meeting that the target of 15,000 units under the affordable housing should be achieved by the BDA Bhubaneswar and OSHB Orissa in the end of 2015 for all.
For transparency BDA has starting the measures in building plan approval and a single window mechanism should be set up for make the procedure easy for the residents. “BDA should be suitably restructured to enable it to address the challenges of urbanization and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metropolitan Development Authority should be set up for the benefit of the people of the twin cities” he also added.
Patnaik has stressed on the rehabilitation of slum dwellers and directed the official to complete their settlement within 5 year. Meanwhile an official said that we are planning to set up OSM as a National Health Mission to ensure shelter security for the peoples across the state. Housing and Urban department has already started the construction of 760 units at Mahinsikhal and 1480 units at Patharbandh by Bhubaneswar Development Authority and 600 units at Rangamatia by Bhubaneswar BMC.
HUD made the plans for rehabilitation of slum dwellers at Mandap Bustee, Saliasahi and Niladri Vihar area and except from these plans the government has found about 100 acres of land for building units under the shelter Schemes.
