An affordable housing project at Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar has been planned for the development of 2600 houses. Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has set up a target of constructing affordable houses for economical weaker section which to be constructed through Public-Private-Partnership model.
The project will be constructed on land of around 20.31 acres with the stock of 2600 EWS houses. These houses will have a build-up area of 32.2 sq.mtr/346.6 sq.ft with the facilities like road network, power supply, drinking water supply, solid waste management, street lights and drainage system.
Besides a residential park, the project will also have an additional infrastructures like primary school, Anganwadi Centre, public health centre and shopping cluster. The project is located at the prominent location very close to Lumbini Vihar, Buddha Jayanti Park and just 9 KM from the City Centre, 11 KM from the city railway station and 12 KM from the Biju Pattnaik International Airport.
The development authority has issued the RFP (Request for Proposal) as per the Model-III of Policy for Housing for All in Urban Areas, Odisha, 2015. The project is an initiative towards the promotion of affordable housing across the state.
According to the Model-III of Housing for All guidelines, the successful bidder in the process will develop 65% land of the project with 2600 affordable housing units along with essential and additional infrastructure with its own cost.
The remaining area of 35% will transformed into a high-end houses or commercial complexes which would be sell at market rates. The commercial segment of the project would be done under Real Estate Regulations Act, 2016.
BDA Bhubaneswar has set up a target of constructing 10,000 houses for EWS section of the society by 2017 of which 7,000 already have been constructed.
