Indore Development Authority is planning to construct about 2000 affordable homes in the city to cater the housing needs of economically weaker section and lower income group of the society. IDA has sent the proposal to the state government of building affordable homes which is awaiting approval.
The decision for building affordable homes was taken during the board meeting held on Thursday, 19 March. Out of the 2000 homes, the authority will build about 750 flats for the economically weaker section (EWS) under the Atal Awas Yojna in Rau and Nihalpura.
The rest 1200-1250 affordable homes will be constructed under the schemes codes 136, 78, 135, 102 and 103. Teh authority first announced its plans of building affordable homes in December last year.
Along with the decision of building the affordable homes, the authority also took us the issue of many stalled infrastructure projects and is hoping of those to take off this year.
The authority has been facing issues in Land acquisition where the land owners are demanding as double as the market prices for their land.
