Khelo India Registration 2018-19: Central government of India is all set to invite the online registration for Khelo India 2018 and the process of registration will be started soon. Complete details of Khelo India 2018-19 such as salendar, sports list, events details and amount of scholarship will be released after the official launch of Khelo India programme for the period 2017-18 to 2019-20. In this period, the government will spend about Rs 1,756 crore for the implementation of Khelo India 2018.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports informed that the government will soon launch the Khelo India 2018-19 and registration form will soon be available for sports person at the official website at yas.nic.in. The the programme aims at mainstreaming sports as a tool for individual development, community development, economic development and national development.

Khelo India 2018-19 would impact the entire sports ecosystem, including infrastructure, community sports, talent identification, coaching for excellence, competition structure and sports economy.

Khelo India 2018-19 Highlights

  • Pan Indian Sports Scholarship scheme would be introduced for covering 1,000 most talented young athletes each year across select sports disciplines.
  • An amount of Rs. 5 lakh for 8 years will be given to the selected athletes under the scheme.
  • The new year “Year 2018” will be celebrated as Year of Sports.
  • The Khelo India campaign aims to promote 150 select schools in as many districts, and 20 universities across the country, as hubs of sporting excellence, which would enable talented sports persons to pursue the dual pathway of education and competitive sports.
  • Under national physical fitness drive, the programme would cover about 200 million children in the age group of 10-18.
  • A campaign will be launched from January 31, 2018 to February 8, 2018 to spot sports talents under 17 years in schools, which will be telecast live and another programme will be started for under-21 college students.

Rathore said that our aim is 2024 and 2028 Olympics. The talented sports person will be trained to make them medal winners. “We cant produce national and international level sports persons with huge infrastructure only. For this, we need strong will power,” the minister said at another event at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).
