Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Delhi – After the launch of about two years, the government is planning to implement the PMAY-Urban in Delhi and the implementation process of PMAY in Delhi will be started soon. Recently, a meeting was organised to solve a query regarding to the implementation of centre’s urban housing scheme in Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal in which the matter has been resolved.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) has inked an agreement with the Delhi government for the implementation of PM Awas Yojana.
The Delhi government had argued that since the land ownership in Delhi is under the jurisdiction of the Centre, which holds it through Delhi Development Authority (DDA), it would not be prudent to make some commitments on its part. Some land in the national capital also lies with the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) which is under the Delhi government.
In the last meeting chaired by L-G Anil Baijal, it was decided to signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the HUPA, the DDA and the DUSIB to enable the process of implementation Urban Housing Mission in Delhi.
The MoA requires a some commitments of Delhi government including, the amendments in the master plan for earmarking land for affording housing and creating a single window for time-bound clearance system for layout approvals and building permissions.
For implementing various components of the PMAY (Urban) scheme, DDA and DUSIB will be the state-level nodal agencies.
Under Housing for All mission, MHUPA has approved the development of 18,75 affordable houses for urban poor across the country with an investment of over Rs. 1 lakh crore. Of total investment, the central assistance is Rs. 29,409 crore.
