Pimpri Chichwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) received over 70,000 application for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). And the list of applicants applying for a flat under central government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is getting bigger day by day.

As per the application data received for PCMC PM Awas Yojana – Modi government housing scheme since last month crossed the count of 70,000 so far and expected to cross the mark of 1 lakh by the last date of application submission.
The government has recently proposed the construction of 9,458 flats in Pimpri Chichwad under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For application invited for the period of one-month with the last date, May-16 but after taking massive response of the people, the corporation extended last date of application submission. For construction of project, the PCMC estimated the cost of Rs. 900 crore.
The chairperson PCMC Standing Committee, Seema Savale informed that the committee has received a huge amount of applications. Of total 43,000 forms received through online online mode and remaining 27,000 forms have been submitted at various offices across the city till Tuesday (May 23). With the time of one week left to submit the forms, the count of applications may cross one lakh.
For selection the beneficiaries, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana draw result will be conducted by the authority for providing them a house. However, the PCMC has plans to give priority to women applicants while giving the ownership as its way of “honouring and empowering” them. And the priority will be given to women including widows, divorcees, single women, visually-challenged and differently-abled women. As the civic body wants, all the flats in the scheme would be registered in the name of women
It will be its way to empower the women who are otherwise, always at the receiving in this male-dominated society, Savale added.
