Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna: March 2022 is set as a deadline for providing houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in the state of Ranchi. The Civic body of Ranchi has set March 2022 as timeframe to construct and provide houses to all weaker section, EWS and LIG and applicants in the state under PMAY.
According to the source the decision was made in the meeting was convened by Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) after receiving the guidelines from Centre on execution of National Housing Urban Mission of PM Mr. Narendra Modi.
Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayavargiya said, “Under the scheme any person who is below the poverty line or belongs to the low-income group (LIG) with family having annual income between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 6 lakh can be a beneficiary in this scheme if anyone in their family does not own a house.”
According to Vijayavargiya, RMC has to restructure slums areas into developed housing areas and RMC also construct houses on government land. They has to provide loan to LIG Families for constructing houses in private spaces.
An interest subsidy of 6.5% on housing loan for 15 years will be given to the applicants of Economical Weaker Section and Lower Income Group from any bank or other loan providing organizations. However, RMC would provide all the facilities after conducting a proper survey.
Vijayavargiya said that we have been asked to conduct the survey by September 28, but that was not possible and so we have asked the state government to give us another month. The survey will include the number of slums in the city and also number of people who own or do not own a house.
The civic body and Urban Development Department will take a survey for project report and detailed project report of survey will be sent to the Union government. Vijayavargiya said that grants for the project will be given (by the Centre) only after the union government approves the DPR.
