Pucca Ghar Yojna for Construction Workers to be Launched in December

Pucca Ghar Yojna: Chief Minister of Orissa announced scheme for construction worker named as “Pucca Ghar Yojna”. The CM said that state government will launch the scheme in December. This is an initiative step for providing houses to construction workers and the move will benefit thousands of such workers, he said.

Earlier, in the meeting of the Construction Workers Welfare Board, Chief Minister said that government would float housing and pension scheme for the construction workers of the state.

The Pucca Ghar Yojna will only benefits the construction worker who have been registered under Orissa Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Boards for five years or more. Under the scheme, a family of a construction worker including the husband, wife and unmarried children will be considered as one unit. However, those workers who are availing benefits of other government housing scheme will not be eligible for the scheme.

According to the source, the list of beneficiaries will be shortlisted by the district-level monitoring committee and the final list will be send to the Construction Workers Welfare Board following which the annual work schedule will be fixed for construction of the pucca houses.

The officials said that the Panchayati Raj department will monitor the housing scheme in which Rs 1 lakh will be spent by the government for the beneficiaries. A budget provision of Rs 30 crore would be made for 3,000 beneficiaries, he also said.

The department will finish the construction of houses within a year of receiving such work order. The state labour commissioner will be the nodal officer for monitoring the implementation and progress of the scheme. The CM said that the importance should be given to backward districts in the implementation of the scheme.
