UP state government is formulating a plan to provide cost-free houses to poor people under Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme. Department of Housing and Urban Development is working on the project to provide houses to poor and homeless people. The department will construct houses to homeless people of lower income group.

There are lots of people are not able to afford one time meal a day so how can they afford a house. Concerning the matter, CM Adityanath Yogi has decided to provide them a shed.

The Source informed that, the housing department is working on task to launch various housing schemes for poor people in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh etc. And these schemes will soon be launched to benefit homeless people. Regarding to matter, a meeting has been scheduled for 25 April 2017. The free housing scheme will be launched on the name of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Currently, an ambitious housing named as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is running across the nation under which government is providing affordable houses to weaker segment of the society. Under the scheme, the central government is providing as assistance of 1.5 lakh and the state will provide an assistance of Rs. 1.0 lakh. Besides a subsidy at the rate of 6.5 % will also be provided on the loan amount of Rs. 6.0 lakh.

The eligible applicants for the up free housing scheme will be selected on the basis of Garib Kalyan Card (Poor Welfare Card). These cards will be issued by the government who would be eligible for the scheme. As per the report of SUDA, 35 lakh poor families have been selected under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
